Gemological Properties- Chaiastolite is a variety of the mineral, Andalusite, the chemical composition is AL2O(SiO4) or Aluminum Sulfate. The crystals are Orthorhombic, the common formation being quite prismatic. The refractive index is 1.43 and the specific gravity is 3.1. It offer a hardness of 3.5-4.5 on the Moe’s scale of hardness. This mineral occurs in many locations. A few of them are Brazil, England, and California in the USA.
