Quartz Growth habits & configurations
Quartz Crystals With Special Healing Properties:
In addition to the general characteristics of crystals, quartz crystals sometimes have other special attributes that enhance their power. To identify these special types of crystals, pay particular attention to the largest of the faces that slope toward the point. Does it have pyramids (triangles) on it? Count the number of edges surrounding the face. This number can be anywhere from 3 to 8, and is one of the things that determines the special characteristics of the crystal. In addition to strengthening the Inner Being as all crystals do, the crystals listed below are true teachers and provide additional special help. Most of them are relatively rare, and they should be highly treasured when one of them finds you.
I discuss the most common Configuration Quartz below. Please click on each picture to learn about the properties.
Quartz Crystal Growth Habit. "Twin Quartz" Two attached crystals that grow side by side. Not to be confused with a Japanese law twin.
Quartz Crystal Growth Habit "Transmitter Quartz" Healing stone for grounding. A transmitter crystal has eight edges surrounding the largest sloping face.
Time link past quartz crystal is recognized by having an inclined window that leans to the left hand side of the front of the crystal.
Time link future quartz crystal is recognized by having an inclined window that leans to the right hand side of the front of the crystal.
Tabby Quartz Crystal is a healing quartz crystal that is very flat in appearance.
A normally formed crystal where as later a second crystal growth occurred, forming a head on the top of the original crystal. Sometimes the second growth "head" can be purple amethyst and or smoky in color, a highly prized form! The sceptor crystal brings the spirituality of the higher planes into the healing ceremonies and focuses the energy deep within the "heart" of the matter. It is an excellent configuration for transmission of directional energy.
Rutilated Quartz is a variety of Quartz crystal that contains small needles of Rutile trapped inside. To be more precise, the needles are actually Titanium Dioxide crystals. Rutile intensifies the healing power of Quartz. It assists you by magnifying all positive energy entering your aura system, it clears negative energy and energy blockages. Some healers use it as a way of getting to the root of an ailment, providing answers for the appropriate treatment.
A self-healed crystal is one that has been naturally broken, later a second quartz solution was introduced that healed the break with new quartz crystallization.
Key crystals are recognized by an indentation on the side or face of a crystal, the key is usually six sided as it's a specific type of growth interference caused by another quartz crystal.
Long slender tapering crystal with small faces comprising the termination. The crystal is wider at the base than at the tip.
Recognized by the horizontal striations which appear to be lasered into the crystal faces.
Configured to show the presence of a parallel raised or indented rectilinear structure on the face or sides of the crystal; not etched, but caused by the growth against another pattern configuration.
A crystal with six evenly spaced sides and six approximately equal faces that center at the tip. sometimes referred to as a "Generator Crystal". This configuration, stores, amplifies, and transmits energy.
Is an extremely clear, colorless form of flawless quartz, no inclusions or discoloration. Optical Quartz is actually clearer and more transparent than glass. It's sometimes used for high end optics for production of microscopes and telescopes. This intense crystal allows one to look within, to delve into the unknown, to discover why we are here at this time.
A phantom crystal is a crystal that has had some sort of mineral impurity introduced to it during growth. Those impurities are deposited on the faces of the crystal, than a second solution of quartz crystallizes and engulfs the original crystal. One can see a "ghost" like crystal within a crystal! Phantom crystals can help you heal from being hurt, heal from emotional injuries. These are important crystals that will usually come into your life at a time when you are carrying a lot of pain.
Record keeper crystals have a pyramid shaped indention or elevation on the surface that appears to be etched onto or into one or more of the sloping crystal faces.
Two joined crystals that meet exactly at 84.33 degree angles, forming a "V" shaped assemblage of crystals rather than the usual hexagonal prisms forms.
Brilliantly clear and extremely lustrous, short, stubby, double-terminated quartz crystals from Herkimer New York. Generally referred to as "Herkimer Diamonds"
An Isis crystal has symmetrical 5-sided faces. Isis face crystals have a distinct look and are easy to recognize, to be confirmed by counting the edges of the faces.
is a crystallization growth condition in which a crystal changes shape as it forms due to the presence of some other mineral which acts as an obstruction to it's normal growth habit.
Faden Quartz (pronounced "Fah-den") is one in which the inclusion of one or more white thread-like fibrous formations run down the center of this oddly formed crystal that can exhibit many terminations along it's outer edges. The name is derived from the German translation of "thread".
The Elestial Crystal is recognized by many natural terminations over the body and faces of an etched and/or layered crystal.
Crystals that have terminated points at both ends and seemingly have no evidence of attachment when it formed. Sometimes referred to as "Floater Crystals"
Crystals covered or partially covered with smaller crystals attached to the crystal surface and faces.
A large crystal with a smaller crystal(s) which penetrates into, and partially out of the original crystal.
Recognised by their "architectural” form, which bears a resemblance to multiple towers, like those of a castle or gothic cathedral.
A form of quartz from Brazil. The unusual feature of this crystal is the multiple small diamond shaped facets/faces at the crystal termination (tip) of the crystal. A very unusual and rare growth habit.
Have seven edges surrounding the largest sloping face of the crystal.
A crystal cluster is a group of crystals which formed in an open space (VOID or VUG) where multiple crystals are grouped and attached together on the matrix of the host rock.
A quartz configuration or growth habit recognized by 2 seven sided faces separated on each side by 1 triangular crystal face.
Are recognized by a melted of dripping appearance of quartz growth on the outer surface of the quartz faces.
