Usually you do not see Hiddenite rough, it is usually all cut into gemstones.     Gemological Properties- HIddenite is from the family of minerals called Spodumene, as is Kunzite.  Spodumene belongs to the monoclinic crystal system and offers a chemical composition of LiAlSi2O6.  Hiddenite is usually seen as a pale-light green crystal, however it can also occur in medium green, which is colored by Chromium.  This darker Hiddenite is from North Carolina, USA.  The refractive index is 1.66-1.67, specific gravity is 3.18 and the hardness is 6.5-7.  It offers intense cleavage planes which make it difficult to cut.  Hiddenite often occurs in Brazil, Madagascar, Afghanistan and the USA.
